1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using BeyondMe ("the Service"), operated by SamaBrains Solutions ("we", "us", "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
BeyondMe is a digital legacy management platform that allows users to:
- Store encrypted digital assets (passwords, documents, letters, files) in a secure vault.
- Set a heartbeat check-in interval (dead man's switch) that monitors user activity.
- Designate trusted contacts who receive access to assets after prolonged inactivity.
- Configure emergency access for trusted contacts with waiting periods.
- Receive escalating notifications before any assets are released.
3. Account Registration
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
- You must provide accurate and complete information during registration.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and master password.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
4. Encryption & Master Password
All sensitive vault data is encrypted client-side using AES-256-GCM with PBKDF2 key derivation (600,000 iterations) before being transmitted to our servers. Your master password is never sent to or stored on our servers.
Important: We operate on a zero-knowledge architecture. If you lose your master password, your encrypted data cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. You are solely responsible for remembering your master password and maintaining secure backups of it.
5. Heartbeat & Asset Release
The heartbeat system monitors your check-in activity. If you fail to check in within your configured interval, the following escalation process occurs:
- Stage 1 — Reminders: You receive email reminders to check in.
- Stage 2 — Warning: Your trusted contacts are warned that asset release may be imminent.
- Stage 3 — Release: After multiple unanswered warnings (14-day escalation period), your assets are released to designated recipients.
Once assets are released, this action cannot be undone. Recipients will still need your master password to decrypt the released assets. It is your responsibility to maintain regular check-ins if you do not wish your assets to be released.
6. Emergency Access
Trusted contacts can request emergency access to your vault. When a request is made, a configurable waiting period begins (default: 48 hours). During this period, you can approve or deny the request. If you do not respond within the waiting period, access may be automatically granted depending on your settings.
7. Subscription Plans & Payments
BeyondMe offers three subscription tiers:
- Free: Up to 3 assets, 1 trusted contact, 30-day minimum check-in interval.
- Pro (UGX 19,000/month): Unlimited assets, up to 10 contacts, custom intervals, file vault, emergency access.
- Family (UGX 45,000/month): Unlimited assets, unlimited contacts, all premium features.
Payments are processed securely through Pesapal, which supports MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and other payment methods. All prices are in Ugandan Shillings (UGX).
8. Billing & Renewals
- Subscriptions are billed monthly from the date of purchase.
- We will send renewal reminders 7, 3, and 1 days before your subscription expires.
- Payments are not auto-charged. You must manually complete the renewal payment via the provided link.
- If payment is not received by the expiry date, your account enters a 7-day grace period during which premium features remain active.
- After the grace period, your subscription is downgraded to the Free plan. Existing data is preserved, but you cannot add new items beyond Free plan limits.
9. Cancellation & Refunds
- You may cancel your subscription at any time from the Billing page.
- Upon cancellation, you retain access to premium features until the end of your current billing period.
- After the billing period ends, your account is downgraded to the Free plan.
- No refunds are issued for partial months or unused subscription time.
- Existing data is never deleted upon downgrade — only new creation is restricted by plan limits.
10. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose or to store illegal content.
- Attempt to circumvent encryption, security measures, or access controls.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
- Create multiple accounts to circumvent plan limits.
- Share your account credentials with others.
- Use automated tools to access the Service without permission.
11. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, SamaBrains Solutions shall not be liable for:
- Any loss of data, including encrypted data that cannot be recovered due to a lost master password.
- Failure or delay in sending notifications or releasing assets.
- Unauthorized access to your account resulting from compromised credentials.
- Service interruptions, downtime, or errors.
- Actions taken by designated recipients after receiving your assets.
- Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
12. Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Upon deletion, all associated data (profile, encrypted assets, heartbeat records, contacts, payment history) is permanently deleted.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. We will notify you by email before termination unless the violation is severe (e.g., illegal activity).
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you via email or in-app notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Uganda. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved through the courts of Uganda.
